Aeschynanthus

Common Names:

Lipstick Plant, Basket Vine

Origin:

Aeschynanthus: Asia and Oceania. 34 varieties come from Southern China alone; others from India, the Philippines, Java, Malaysia, New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

Columnea: Tropical Middle and South America. Columnea also grows epiphytically on trees in its native countries.

Use:

Easy-care, persistent house plant. Some varieties are better suited in containers, others are ideal for hanging baskets.

Flowering time:

September until February, depending on the variety.

Location:

As bright as possible but no direct sun. Warm with a higher humidity is most ideal. Temperatures less than +5°C are not recommended

Care:

Cold water leads to damages. The plant likes occasional sprays; however, this is not necessary. It needs a rest period in the summer so that flowers can form again in autumn.

Young plants:

Available in our online shop from the middle of October until the beginning of June.
